Cooperatives (and other forms of communal production) are an important step, but only one step, in this process. We do cooperatives a disservice by placing too large a burden on them. I want to thank Maliha Safri, for organizing the session and providing valuable comments and suggestions on an earlier draft, and the other participants in the session, for an engaging discussion of these ideas
