Political activity in the Palestinian diaspora (like that among other refugee populations) has taken a variety of forms, ranging from participation in the political systems of host societies, to local community organization and participation in a broader nationalist movement. This article examines Palestinian political activism in Lebanon, identifying the factors that have shaped refugee political activity at these three levels and assessing its wider impact on the evolution of the modern Palestinian movement. It also attempts to draw from the Palestinian case some general conclusions regarding the dynamics of refugee politics
