Hager, Jr. It is particularly momentous as Lucy has been the journal’s editor or co-editor since 1997, during which time she steered the journal through momentous and often turbulent changes in the communist and post-communist world. She was a driving force behind this special issue, which is dedicated to politics in Hong Kong and China. This special issue exemplifies the journal’s editorial transition in several respects. The journal first rose to prominence when it changed from Communist Affairs (1962–1967) to Studies in Comparative Communism (1968–1992). When it changed once more to Communist and Post-Communist Studies in 1993, it continued to promote comparative analysis while expanding its range of disciplinary approaches and case studies....
