In developing this new measure of Home Observation for Measurement of Environment (HOME) Inventory for use with early adolescents, these authors had multiple purposes. First, they wished to describe a new version of Home Observation for Measurement of Environment (HOME) Inventory 1/4 that is designed for use with families of children ages 10 through 15 (p. 248). The authors discussed importance of the adolescent's historical, cultural, and economic circumstance in evaluating home environment. They noted potential for similarities and differences across cultural groups in adolescent needs and goals; and in parental parenting values, practices, and goals. Thus, their second and primary intent is [was] to examine how measure works for each group [European American, African American, Dominican American, Mexican American, and Chinese American] even though they do [did] not intend to make comparisons between groups regarding scores on EA-HOME or of relations between EA-HOM
