Survey Research on Soviet Law One aspect of the general revival of Soviet sociology which began in the 1960's is a renewed interest in empirical legal sociology in the USSR. The use of public opinion survey techniques in legal research has been given additional impetus by the current "law and order" campaign which has been emphasizing, since the 24th Congress of the CPSU, the theme of "stengthening legality" through instilling greater respect for Soviet law by means of mass legal "education" of the general public.
