This article provides a review of the Inaugural Regional Symposium of the Public Administration Theory Network (PAT-Net), sponsored by the University of Western Sydney-Nepean and held in Sydney, Australia, July 22nd to 24th, 1999. The discussion at the Symposium should be understood in the larger context of globalization and its impact on the Asian region. Generally, the Symposium signals the need for a truly international public administration theory that goes beyond the Euro-American centrism of current administrative thought
