Today, Singapore has obviously switched from poor development to world‐wide competition. This change is only the beginning history of a little island, which succeeded in developing its land by integrating it into the world. If it took advantage of favorable circumstances, it should be praised for the way it dedicated itself to succeed. Before, Singapore had tourist activity that was considered marginal, and occupied a small place in its strategy aimed at increasing its value in the region and across the world. Some twenty years later, tourism has become a prosperous industry which, by its contribution to economic development, can legitimately be considered equal to other economic sectors. The Singaporean tourism industry, which relies on its Asian consistency, proposes great holidays and business thanks to its effective infrastructure, its position as hub of traffic, the quality of its hotels and the diversity of the places and products it offers. According to detailed analysis of the evolution of the tourism phenomenon, an ambitious policy was created, seeking to propel itself to the level of a tourist capital, and to make tourism an additional argument for its integration into the world. However, this process also has its contradictions, since the challenges it faces also come from within that same world
