Psychological intervention through the Internet

Is it feasible to perform a therapy or a so called psychological intervention omitting the usual ways, that is, omitting a clinical intervention? The technical advances that our society has recently experienced make answer to the previous question necessary. Elements such as the electronic mail, chat, web sites or videoconferences have transformed the Internet in a therapeutic tool, available to both professionals and patients who want to and can use it. Moreover, in some particular cases it may be the only possible way to start a therapeutic intervention. ¿Es factible realizar una terapia o una intervención psicológica prescindiendo de la tradicional intervención clínica? Los avances técnicos a los que nuestra sociedad nos ha llevado en los últimos años hacen necesaria una respuesta afirmativa a la anterior cuestión. Elementos propios de la Red, como el correo electrónico, el chat, las páginas web o las videoconferencias hacen de Internet un medio terapéutico más, disponible para todo aquel profesional y paciente que quieran y puedan utilizarlo, es más, en algunos casos concretos puede tratarse del único medio para iniciar una intervención terapéutica
