Despite the rapid growth of scholarship on the history of 'world Christianity', summative overviews aimed at the student market remain scarce.Happily, Klaus Koschorke has drawn on his many years of experience teaching world Christian history at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich to produce just such a textbook.Although it will attract a general readership, it is likely to be most widely used as a teaching resource in seminaries and university departments of theology and religious studies.Theological institutions situated in the non-Western world will give an especially warm welcome to the fact that the eBook is available as an open access text. The book is designed as a companion to a documentary sourcebook edited by Koschorke, Frieder Ludwig and Mariano Delgado, A History of Christianity in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, 1450 -1990 (Eerdmans, 2007)), and readers of Koschorke's new book are regularly directed to the corresponding primary sources contained in the 2007 book. The author has also supplied a link to a digital appendix containing some 250 of his own photographs, thus supplying both teachers and students with further digital resources to supplement the text. One wonders, however, whether the fact that the accompanying and much earlier sourcebook is not Studies in World Christianity 32.
