Tammelleo's 'Continuity and Change in Hispanic Identity' contains a provocative analysis of some of the main issues surrounding Hispanic/Latino identity as well as of the philosophical positions that Linda Alcolf, Angelo Corlett, and I have devel oped with respect to it. In a spirit of dialogue and with a view to clarification and advancement of the discussion, I offer arguments against Tammelleo's positive evaluation of some aspects of the view defended by Corlett, I defend my own position against the objections Tammelleo articulates against it, and I show that his own position, with some modifications, fits nicely within my account. In spite of these criticisms, I conclude that Tammelleo's view has much in it that is valuable and useful. I hope that my comments encourage his further thinking, and that of others, on these significant topics
