Since its designation as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2010, flamenco has not only solidified its cultural significance but also emerged as a key element in the tourism industry, catalyzing tourist activities. Despite extensive research on the relationship between motivation and satisfaction within tourism, this link, especially in the context of cultural heritage tourism, remains complex and often yields inconsistent findings. This study aims to enrich our understanding of flamenco's role in this sector by constructing a comprehensive structural model that integrates key variables: motivation, satisfaction, the likelihood of revisiting flamenco shows, and the propensity to recommend the flamenco experience. Utilising data from 364 tourists who visited various flamenco tablaos in Seville, our findings reveal a unique dynamic. Hedonic motivation – seeking pleasure and enjoyment from the flamenco experience – emerges as the principal motivator influencing tourist satisfaction, overshadowing social and educational motivations. This hedonic drive significantly predicts both the desire to revisit flamenco performances and to recommend them to others. The study sheds new light on the nuances of flamenco as a tourist attraction, offering valuable insights for theoretical advancement and practical strategies in promoting flamenco tourism.
