The article draws on empirical research based on the Klein Sexual Orientation Grid to suggest that the Grid offers a robust method for self-identification of respondents’ sexualities. The author argues that self-identification should be the starting point for categorizing respondents in sociological studies, but that additional data from the Grid can offer valuable additional insights into emotional and social behavior. The article analyzes the data from more than 200 respondents to an online survey to suggest further use in future sociological studies
