This study explored manifestation to culture-based countertransferences (CBCs) among a cross-cultural sample of seventeen social workers. Using a multiple case study research strategy, the study identified ten CBCs from social workers' cross-cultural counseling situations. This article discussed five CBCs most frequently occurring among social workers during the counseling process. These CBCs included: (1) recognizing clients' life achievements, resilience, and strengths; (2) expectations and prescriptions; (3) social workers' assessments, labels and views of clients; (4) what to ask and not to ask clients; (5) social workers' activities to avoid and distance. Practice and research implications of the findings are discussed
