This editorial describes a new requirement for submissions to the Journal of Mixed Methods Research (JMMR): transparently disclose the use of artificial intelligence or automated tools during the research process. An in-depth review of the perceived and actual advantages and disadvantages of using artificial intelligence/automated tools is beyond the scope of this editorial. In this editorial, we indicate some definitions and implications of using these tools in research. Next, we emphasize several reporting requirements that authors must consider in their submissions to JMMR. Finally, some steps and opportunities are highlighted
