Concerns about health and wellness permeate discussions related to the environment among Chicago residents. In this article, we draw on interview data and community "stories" to explore how local environments intermix with traditional values and practices to produce a dynamic conception of health and wellness in cosmopolitan Chicago neighborhoods. We also examine how Chicago's Field Museum, and its division of Environment, Culture, and Conservation (ECCo) in particular, has forged partnerships with cultural organizations in these neighborhoods to identify community concerns and assets for action projects that will improve neighborhood quality of life
