This study maps and analyses a relationship between cultures and how cognitive skills express in cultural context. It examines the effects that cultural exposure has on the cognitive processes of people who migrate from developing to developed cultures, and how these cognitive skills are expressed in everyday life. The study sample consists of immigrants from Ethiopia who shifted overnight from a traditional agrarian culture to modern Israeli culture. The transition accrued within the space of 24 hours, an entire community leaped over from an agrarian society with an oral culture and an economy based on blacksmithing, carpentry, metal-working, fishing and forestry, to a modern, technological culture based on knowledge and writing. This leap, a radical social and cultural change for the entire community, created a large-scale social experiment, which offers an excellent opportunity to examine how cognitive skills are reflected in a cultural context
