This study analyzes the relationship between the human rights environment ( HRE ) in social media ( SM ) and its role in the political reform process ( PRP ) in Jordan, considering the nature of use by political activists’ of SM as a mediator variable. We designed a questionnaire based on a 5-point Likert scale, consisting of three parts: (1) a set of paragraphs to gauge the extent of the HRE in SM ; (2) a set of paragraphs to measure the nature of activists’ use of SM ; and (3) a set of paragraphs to determine the level of SM ’s contribution to the PRP . We found that the HRE in SM and the nature of activists’ use of SM impact directly on the role of SM in Jordan’s PRP , also HRE in SM has an indirect impact regarding its role in PRP through the partial mediation of the nature of activists’ use of SM
