Abstract in English:Geopolitical rivalry and a changed view on international research collaborations – Swedish experiencesIn recent years, the security risks associated with international research collaborations have increasingly received attention. Consequently, it has been emphasized from politicians in the Nordic countries that tougher measures will be required from state actors. This article describes the development occurring in Sweden in the past few years and discusses the challenges that geopolitical rivalries bring to open international research exchanges. The tools commonly used can lead to overreach and impact researchers to refrain from collaborations rather than managing risks and miss the opportunities that international collaborations offer. These risks associated with international collaboration are more difficult to manage in collaborations that take place with researchers in countries that are culturally, legally and politically very different from Sweden, such as for example China. This article describes the work in Sweden to find a more nuanced way of working with international collaborations
