The purpose of this article is to assess the relationship between wars in the Middle East and the change of global order in recent academic research, using The World After Gaza: A History, Grand Strategy in the Contemporary Middle East: The Concepts and Debates, and Middle East Geopolitics and the Rise of Multipolarity: Global Turning Point. These three books fill some gaps in this aspect from three different angles, namely the interpretation of historical philosophy, the strategic interaction of great powers, and geopolitics. The case studies show that wars in the Middle East are not an isolated emergency, but a series of processes associated with the distribution of global power and the strategic plans of major powers. However, this review also suggests that the three books devote comparatively less sustained attention to the mechanisms and political economy of cooperation than to conflict and competition—especially where cooperation is shaped by sanctions, normalization politics, and infrastructure projects. Lasting control of conflict, sustainable political development, and a more stable international order are all related to credible cooperation among regional entities, major powers, and multilateral institutions.
