Th e model of public regulationhas an impact ondiff erentareas of theeconomy. Th e paperfocuses onthe aspect of the level of public intervention in the context of stability of economic growth. Th e aim of the research is to examine thestatisticalrelationship between thedegree ofeconomic freedom (measured by Index of Economic Freedom)and the intensity ofthe reactionof the economyto the fi nancial crisisof 2008 (measured by the standard deviation of thereal GDP growth rate). Th eresearch hypothesis is the statement that such relationship exists.Th e study is based on data from 2007-2011 for European Union countries.Th e following methods were used in the paper: statistical description and comparative analyses
