During the Interbellum era, oriental ideas about native peoples were still an important component of the ideologies that served as the justification for the colonial presence of European powers in the East. The article analyzes the ideological and rhetorical assessment by representatives of the British military class of the parameters of the use of force in ensuring the internal security of the empire after the Great War in the context of new challenges to colonial rule – the development of national liberation movements and the growth of independence of local players on the East. The research focuses on military orientalism, which was present in the British Army corporation as not only a genre of professional writing (from official histories to publicism), but also a style of thinking and an area of practically oriented knowledge. In addition, the article reveals the mutual influence of the oriental ideas of the military class and specific directions in ensuring the internal security of the British Empire in the interwar period. The research methodology built in this way allows, taking into account the documents involved, to raise the question of the evolution of administrative practices at the final stage of the existence of the British Empire in a new way
