The article discusses the work of the famous Bolshevik ideologist of the 1920s N. I. Bukharin “The Iron Cohort of the Revolution”, written for the 5th anniversary of the October Revolution and a response to the recent discussion within the party with the Workers’ Opposition. The purpose of the work was to respond to the accusations against the party leadership, including from the Workers’ Opposition, to its demands for a revision of the principles of industrial management, the transfer of the levers of its management in favor of the trade unions from the party and state structures. Analysing the historical experience of the Bolshevik Party, Bukharin answers the question: what enabled the Bolsheviks to win in October and to continue to carry out, in his opinion, the successful construction of the proletarian dictatorship? The positive historical experience of the Party, in Bukharin’s opinion, should lead the reader to the idea that it is necessary for the Party leadership to preserve the same principles of government within the Party and in the state as a whole even after the revolution. An analysis of Bukharin’s work helps to understand his position in the inner-party struggle of the 1920s
