The discussion of the potentialities associated with natural resources in terms of economic growth continues in the specialized literature. Chile is generally cited as a country that has avoided the natural resource curse and achieved a high level of economic growth for decades. This research aims to examine the Chilean experience around its main natural resource, copper, from the standpoint of the most current academic debate about industrialization strategies for natural resources, aiming to extract some knowledge to develop this type of strategies and hence contribute to the academic and political discussions arisen in the region
