The increasing integration of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICTs) into daily life hasreshaped scientific research, particularly in the field of Information Science. This study examines the impact ofthe COVID-19 pandemic on gender-related scientific production in Information Science journals from theNortheast region of Brazil in 2019 and 2020. The research follows a descriptive methodology, analyzing articles, reviews, essays, interviews, and experience reports from 16 scientific journals indexed in the BRAPCI database.Additionally, it investigates gender-related research presented at the 2019 National Meeting of Research inInformation Science (ENANCIB). The study adopts a bibliometric approach to assess gender disparities inacademic productivity during the pandemic, particularly the challenges faced by female researchers due to theincreased burden of domestic and caregiving responsibilities. The results indicate a decline in female academic productivity during the pandemic, aligning with previous research on gender inequality in science. The findingshighlight the need for more inclusive policies to support women in academia
