This article delves into the educational philosophy embedded in the classical Javanese text Aji Sarasotih Merapi-Merbabu, a literary work rich in wisdom, spirituality, and moral teachings. The main focus of this study is to explore the concept of the teacher and student, the process of knowledge transmission, and how character and spiritual formation are viewed holistically within the text. Employing a qualitative approach and critical textual analysis, this article reveals the role of the teacher as a wise sage (pandita) who not only imparts knowledge but also guides the student’s inner transformation and moral development. The findings indicate that the educational philosophy in Aji Sarasotih remains highly relevant to contemporary educational challenges, particularly in integrating local values and spirituality as foundational elements of character education. This study contributes significantly to the development of educational thought grounded in local traditions that can serve as a reference and be applied within today’s increasingly complex and dynamic educational contexts
