No significant differences were found between the group mean scores of 7 schizophrenics, 7 neurotics, and 7 normals on the Literature Empathy Test. However, there was support for the hypothesis that normals respond in terms of a generalized conventional other, while schizophrenics respond in a more idiographic manner
