Knowledge of the way human Ss process data about one another was the subject of this research project. The particular series of experiments treated here were directed to answer two questions. Does S learn another person in the sense of making increasingly accurate predictions of the other person's behavior as he receives increasing amounts of information about that person? Is there a generalization of this prediction skill of S from one person to the next? The method of investigation was the The programmed case was a life history divided into segments or events. The case was presented, one event ar a time, to S, and S was required to forecast the next or following event. S made a prediction by discriminating as to which of three possible events would occur.
