This paper reports conceptual development and empirical use of the Multigenerational Interconnectedness Scale, designed to reflect financial, functional, and psychological connections between adolescents or young adults and their families. Initial data regarding psychometric properties are presented. Analysis of data gathered from a sample of 337 never-married individuals yielded a three-factor structure that corresponded to theoretically derived dimensions of Financial Interconnectedness, Functional Interconnectedness, and Psychological Interconnectedness. Further, use of the scale is reviewed as evidence of the scale's reliability and validity. Finally, consideration is given use as a practical and effective tool in research on adolescents and families
