The effect of 0.1 and 0.25 mg/kg physostigmine on the rate of habituation of ambulation, rearing and grooming in rats tested in a 36- × 36-in. open field was investigated. While physostigmine decreased all responses, it did not facilitate their rate of habituation. The need to measure habituation directly is discussed
