Considerant que le langage religieux doit fonctionner dans la recherche d'un sens de la vie chez les individus, les AA. s'interessent aux facteurs psychologiques qui determinent l'interpretation des discours religieux. La participation aux activites religieuses d'une communaute renforce l'interpretation litterale d'un langage. Une interpretation metaphorique du langage religieux correspond au contraire a une attitude heuristique caracteristique de la maturite religieuse. L'interpretation d'un discours depend egalement de la capacite cognitive du sujet tout en ne pouvant eliminer l'influence de la representation sociale du groupe religieux
