Research results are presented on how adolescents and adults perceive each other and themselves as groups. The major hypothesis is to the effect that the in-group is viewed more positively than the out-group and is confirmed in part: older people think more favourably of adults than of adolescents and parents are more positive about their own children than about young people in general. Interestingly, we are led to conclude that adolescents think more positively of adults than of their own peer group. The results also show that girls and boys are assessed differently
