This paper describes the evaluation program of the NCGIA Core Curriculum. Different surveys cover details of the technical environments of the test sites, the educational backgrounds and experience of the instructors and the backgrounds, expectations and experiences of the students. A detailed review of each lecture and lab is completed by instructors after each class. Final surveys of students and instructors provide details of the effectiveness of the courses and the level of satisfaction with the structure and content. In addition, philosophical issues, such as the role of hands-on training, the need for specific case studies and the potential impact of such a curriculum development project on the teaching of introductory GIS are presented
