As of the 15 th century, some scholars from Tadamakkat who were members of Sufi brotherhoods started migrating eastwards, a migration related to the decline of this town and of Takadda. Written sources and oral traditions provide information about these scholar's itineraries and their role in the establishments (Takadda, In Teduq, etc.) where they sojourned before founding hermitages in the Air. Archeological data can be used to link the major characteristics of these places of pilgrimage to the cultural components that presided over their foundation. The highly coded organization of some of these centers can be set down to the founders' Sufi doctrines
