Part I: Personal and Public Life This is the first part of the transcript of a conversation between the authors, Malcolm Pines and his wife, Iris. There is a particular dynamic of a couple interviewing another couple. This first part focuses on Malcolm’s personal history, studies, theoretical and clinical interests and experiences. But Iris’s participation opens the way for an exploration of their personal life together, and the way in which this relates to Malcolm’s professional life, which will be further explored in the second part
