Research Article| October 01 2020 Ferruccio Busoni, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Impact of Anti-Germanismus around World War I Erinn E. Knyt Erinn E. Knyt Erinn E. Knyt is associate professor of music history and graduate program director in the Department of Music and Dance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She received her B.A. in music with highest honors (University of California Davis, 2003), an M.M. in music (Stanford University, 2007), and a Ph.D. in music and humanities (Stanford University, 2010). Knyt specializes in nineteenth- and twentieth-century music, aesthetics, pedagogy, and performance studies and has written extensively about Ferruccio Busoni. Her book (Indiana University Press, 2017) explores Busoni’s relationship with early and midcareer composition mentees, including Jean Sibelius, Edgard Varèse, Otto Luening, Louis Gruenberg, and Philipp Jarnach. Her book was awarded an AMS 75 Pays Endowment Book Subvention Grant. Knyt was also awarded the 2018 AMS Teaching Award.
