Geographical Variations of Male Overmortality are Inconsistent with its Evolution in Process of Time. The higher life expectancy at birth is, the smaller the gap between males and females is, but the more life expectancy increases, the more the gap increases! History is inconsistent . with geography. Yet this strange paradox is not entirely unex- plainable. Indeed, on one hand, the geographical variations of male overmortality are mainly connected with some factors particularly harmful to males and the life expectancy gap between sexes is wide where male life expectancy is less high. But on the other hand, a male overmortality getting worse in the process of time depends more on a group of factors particularly favourable to females and the gap between sexes is getting deeper as female life expectancy is getting higher
