The unbalance between the mountain and the coastline ; the French-Italian border's example. The French-Italian border is a mountain-line border. It sets the problem of the recent implantation of a state boundary in a long-contested space. It is surimposed to the yet homogeneous regional system of Southern Alps, thus creating a hindrance to East-West relations. The border is not always well accepted by the inhabitants because it accentuates an isolation already set by the relief
