Causality in language : a question of point(s) of view. How do the linguistic means of expression reveal the representations of the causal relations a human speaker does or builds and chooses to transmit ? In order to support the assumption that the causality encoded in the language can be seen as a complex relation that integrates on one hand, an efficient relation between situations and on another one, a subjective relation between this efficient relation and the speaker who assumes it, we analyse the enunciative marks of this subjective relation and we extract from those the most salient modalities. We show that these various modalities of enunciative endorsement are conceptually and for¬mally related in various degrees to the concept of causality and we specify the incidence of each of them on the causal predicate to which it applies
