In this short personal text I reflect on the ways in which to interpret the more negative experiences during visits to Africa that I had myself or that I have heard about. I have noted that such experiences tend to be interconnected in my framing of them to form a whole, as in all the things I do not like about visiting Africa. I often hesitate to talk about these experiences and wonder why this is so. The piece does not draw conclusions; it leaves me asking questions about my own positionality in relation to such experiences
