L’auteure analyse les stratégies esthétiques utilisées par Camal Pirbhai et Camille Turner dans leur projet Wanted (2017), où ces artistes proposent une réflexion sur le passé esclavagiste du Canada. Ce projet déplace les interprétations traditionnelles de l’histoire de l’esclavage en positionnant les personnes tenues en esclavage comme acteurs et actrices en révolte. Après une mise en contexte de l’histoire et de la représentation de l’esclavage au Canada, l’auteure décortique la mise en image de l’agentivité des personnes asservies dans le projet Wanted. Pirbhai et Turner offrent ainsi une réflexion élargie sur la représentation des personnes afrodescendantes dans le contexte de l’idéologie néolibérale
