The article addresses the problem of the sound object from the perspective of psychoanalysis. Critical theory, which emerged from psychoanalysis, enables the examination of various forms of the object-oriented sound: from the object cathexis, through symptomatic and organic formations, to the object–affect. Furthermore, the article explores the dialectic of letter and sound. The text concludes with an attempt to structure the sound field as an expression of univocity
