This article provides a case study of a Bulgarian oriental-carpet manufacturer (Rhodopski Kilim) located in the city of Assenovgrad in central Bulgaria. This case is time based (1993-97). The 1989 political changes that forced the Communist party from power in Bulgaria caused Rhodopski's director, Nikolai Nachkov, to shift from operating in a centrally controlled market to a diversified global one. His son, Dimiter, American university educated with some U.S. work experience, assisted and consulted on the project
