The frontispiece of Muscei Wormiani Historia, the catalogue of the seventeenth-century Danish polymath, Olaus Worm's collection, depicts a room within his house displaying identifiable objects from his collection. The accuracy of the engraving proven when it was reconstructed for the 1988 quatercentenary celebrations of King Christian IV's accession to the throne. This article discusses Worm's inspiration and intentions behind his collection, and touches upon the significance eventual incorporation into the Royal Kunstkammer of King Frederik III where it has remained largely intact to this day.
