Etiquetado. Abstract: The contemporary Spanish literary field has witnessed the rise of a narrative trend that has been called neoruralism, whose main characteristic is the location of fictions in rural areas. Although an in-depth study of the phenomenon shows us the existence of a heterogeneous set of works that express different conceptions of the rural, critics have used the aforementioned label, whose origin dates back to French and American sociological studies of the sixties. and seventy and that was taken directly from the reviews and articles of the journalistic press. In this article, and after an initial analysis of the details of labeling as a commodifying process, we consider the problematization of the term, which is very restrictive for textual and extratextual reasons, and we propose the use of the concept of rural literature, which allows us to embrace each increasingly numerous volumes of texts. Finally, we propose a categorization of them based on several critical approaches. Keywords: Neorruralism. Rural literature. Etiquette. Terminology. Editorial industry
