The goal of this special issue is to promote a better and more critical understanding of the use of observational methods in human-computer interaction (HCI). We have coined the term exploratory sequential data analysis (ESDA) to refer collectively to the many techniques that already exist in the behavioral and social sciences for handling observational data and for performing sequential analyses. Borrowing for a moment from our article in this special issue, we define ESDA as
Computer security · Data mining · Data science · Exploratory analysis · Exploratory data analysis · Key (lock · Moment (physics · Observational study · Term (time · Cognitive and psychological constructs research · Computer Science · Data Visualization and Analytics · Mathematics · Sensory Analysis and Statistical Methods · Artificial Intelligence
