Based on questionnaire responses from criminal justice programs that offer a history course, this paper discusses justifications and approaches to teaching criminal justice history. The author interviewed representatives of criminal justice doctoral programs to examine the extent to which future criminal justice educators are being exposed to historical study, and to what degree these programs are forging interdisciplinary links with history departments. A list of resources used by questionnaire respondents is included, and the author names other important historical resources for criminal justice educators
