A 2004 study assessing wildlife value orientations in the western United States facilitated demonstration of an “e-mail focus group” approach. The study provided state fish and wildlife agencies with e-mail addresses matched to specific wildlife value orientation types. This information was intended to ensure adequate representation of specific publics in attempts to obtain input by email. This article reports findings from a pilot test of the e-mail panel approach using study data from South Dakota
