Este trabalho apresenta sumariamente as principais teses de Mattoso Câmara sobre a estilística e uma pequena amostra de suas análises de textos ou de aspectos de textos literários. O objetivo é deixar claro que teorias de estilo consideradas psicologizantes privilegiaram a análise dos textos, deixando em aberto um conjunto de problemas que merecem ser mais analisados.PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Mattoso Câmara. Estilística. Estudos machadianos. ABSTRACTThis paper offers a summary of Mattoso Câmara ́s main hypotheses about stylistics as well as a sample of his text or literature analyses. The goal of this work is to make it clear that even the so called psychologizing theories of style privilege text analysis, permiting therefore to revisit a set of problems that deserves further analyses.KEYWORDS: Mattoso Câmara.
