Across policy, practice and scholarship there is increasing global recognition regarding forms of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV). This includes emerging concern on TFGBV and the weaponsing of technology against women and girls in the Asia-Pacific. Separate to this are nascent discussions on how digital devices and online spaces are being used in human trafficking. While the websites and technologies of the commercial sex industry are noted for facilitating and profiting from online and digitally enabled sex trafficking, considerations of how this manifests in the Asia-Pacific are largely underdeveloped. As Asian and Pasifika women and girls are disproportionately represented in the commercial sex industry, including being trafficked to countries such as Australia and New Zealand, the technology-facilitated sex trafficking of women and girls marginalised by race/ethnicity and migration status deserves further attention when developing responses to human trafficking and TFGBV. This article raises several key issues for addressing the demand of Asian and Pasifika women and girls in the commercial sex industry and via technology-facilitated sex trafficking (TFST)
