Since 2011, the Mapuche communities Cañio and Ñiripil located on the slopes of Cerro León (northwest of the province of Chubut, Argentina) have been facing a conflict with the local State that occupied their territories without permission to build a ski winter center. In the framework of the judicialization of this litigation, it was defined as an environmental conflict. From an ethnographic approach, this work uses this conflict to analyze the perspectives that Mapuche communities, in transit through struggle, have constituted on their own. Based on the frameworks of analysis of the anthropology of memory, participation, interventions and positioning of communities in Futra Trawün (parliaments, political meetings) will be resumed with the purpose of investigating about the form in which the communities adopted the councils of the ancestors as an index to understand the conflict. In this way, the communities defined itself as part of the history of the Mapuche people and in function of its sensible experiences of the world and the beings that inhabit it
